Packaged

Shit in a Shoebox

Here's a new adage for the New New York City: you can sell anything in a fancy package.

The ultimate exemplar of this frightening credo would have to be 25-year-old Justin Gignac's artistic endeavor. He sells garbage.

Strange that not too long ago, his packaged garbage was selling for a mere $10 a pop, but now his site will ship you (charges included) a numbered box, signed by Gignac himself, for the bargain price of $50!

Rather than rail against Gignac, which would be both warranted and worthwhile, The Inquirer instead wants to open up the comments below to a reader survey. (Who in their right mind is buying this crap? Never mind, we don't want to know.)

Tell us, what other New York scams survive on their pretty packaging?

(Garbage from blazink's flickr stream.)
