A theater review on Monday about the Buenos Aires in Translation festival, at Performance Space 122 in the East Village, referred incorrectly to the translator of the festival’s four plays. The translator, Jean Graham-Jones, is a woman.

That's a man, baby! Part II (11/17/06)

An article in Business Day on Tuesday about a trip to China by Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez referred incorrectly in some copies to the Chinese vice prime minister, Wu Yi, who discussed trade issues with Mr. Gutierrez. The vice prime minister is a woman.

That's a man, baby! Part III (11/19/06)

The cover essay on Nov. 5, about the current state of American democracy, referred incorrectly to the author of “Activism, Inc.,” a book about the professionalization of grass-roots campaigning. Dana R. Fisher is a woman.

That's a man, baby! No, really (11/29/06)

An article on Sunday about unschooling, a form of home schooling that rejects not only the schoolhouse but also other aspects of conventional education like curriculums and textbooks, referred incorrectly to an author and advocate of unschooling. The author, Pat Farenga, is a man.

500 rights do not make 120 wrongs (11/16/06)

An obituary on Monday and in some copies on Sunday about Isadore Barmash, a retired business reporter for The New York Times, rendered incorrectly the name of a department store that he wrote about frequently. It was Gimbels, not Gimbel’s. Gimbels, which closed in 1986, has been referred to correctly in The Times more than 500 times since 1980 and incorrectly more than 120 times; this is the first time the error has been corrected.

He also came "to be a clutch hitter," but that didn't work out (11/25/06)

A Sports of The Times column on Thursday about the differences between the Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter misstated a quotation from USA Today by Steve Fortunato, Rodriguez’s marketing representative, about a reason Rodriguez came to New York. It should have read, “not to be Mr. Madison Avenue” — not “to be Mr. Madison Avenue.”

He said "Pass the ten forties," not the 1040s (11/29/06)

Because of an editing error, a sports article on Friday about the United States ski team members’ delay in agreeing to revised alcohol and housing policies added a sentence within quotation marks that were not spoken by the veteran skier Scott Macartney. Referring to ski team officials, he said: “They started really changing what was expected of the athletes and we kind of took it as an opportunity to turn the mirror around and be very clear about what was expected of them. I think over all it became something very positive because it solidified us as a group.” He did not continue to say that the racers had lobbied for more input in team policies and had circulated the team’s tax records among themselves.
